Is RBR pet friendly?

Yes with prior arangement with the host.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you will be camping then bring all your usual camping gear.

The Lapa is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. There is a 5 burner gas stove/oven, fridge/freezer. Showers; toilets and kitchen sink.

Is there cell phone reception or wifi?

There is no cell phone reception on most of the farm but we do have wifi.

Do you have canoes?

We don’t have canoes however you are welcome to bring your own canoes or floaty things. The river is lovely but due to rocky drifts you may have to carry these over the shallow areas to continue exploring. Booties are handy for this type of adventuring.

Do you provide fire wood?

We do provide fire wood to get you started. Additional 50kg bags of firewood can be purchased at R65 per bag.

Is there power at the camping area?

No. Bring torches or solar lighting that can be charged at the lapa during the day.

Is the cabin self catering?

The cabin is fully equipped with cooking utensils; crockery; cutlery; bedding and towels etc. but is fully self catering. Please bring you own swimming towels.

Do you cater for functions?

We certainly are happy to cater for small functions. We can provide meals or arrange for catering for events such as intimate weddings, birthday parties and the likes. Please inquire in this regard.

What is access to the farm like?

The farm is about an hour or so from Plettenberg bay and a little more from Knysna if you come through the Knysna forest. Both are spectacular drives. The 10km farm road is passable in a 4×2 high clearance vehicle during the dry season, and although a 4×4 vehicle is not essential, it is recommended to get to Riverbend Retreat. Please be sure to check your spare wheel and tools for a tire change should you have a flat. No cell reception on this 10km section.

Is the farm a good place for birding?

Absoloutly, there is a wonderful array of bird life on the farm. Some recent sitings include African ducks; crested eagle; narina trogan; fish eagle; harrier hawk etc, etc. Bring your bino’s.

Other wildlife although quite elusive include bushbuck; grysbok; bushpig; caracal; leopard; genets and the likes.

Can we book the entire venue including the cottage; camping sites and lapa?

You adsoloutly can. We encourage this as the farm is very secluded and perfect for those getaways with family and friends. Free reign on the farm allows you to party all night long if this is your thing.

What is the maximum capacity if we book the entire venue?

We try to limit the bookings for the whole venue to 20 persons but chat with the host should you have questions in this regard.
